Headlands Coastal Lodge & Spa sits directly on the water in Pacific City, on the North Oregon Coast, where all 51 rooms and cottages face the Pacific and Pacific City’s Haystack Rock. The 33 lodge rooms and 18 oceanfront cottages each open to a private balcony or patio, with gas fireplaces, spa-style bathrooms, and Oregon hardwoods that keep the luxury casual and tied to this place. A day here can run from the outdoor hot tub with Haystack Rock views to a treatment at Tidepools Spa & Wellness to dinner at Meridian, all without leaving the property. It is a Noble House resort about two hours from Portland, with the Inn at Cape Kiwanda as its sister property in town.
Headlands is in Pacific City on Oregon’s North Coast, alongside Cape Kiwanda State Natural Area, a two-hour drive from Portland International Airport and about two and a half hours from Seattle. Check-in is 4:00 pm for lodge rooms and 5:00 pm for cottages; check-out is noon and 11:00 am. Self-parking is $12 a night with unlimited in-and-out access, and two EV charging stations are on site. Reservations carry an 11.9 percent lodging tax and a 10 percent amenity fee. Guests must be 18 to check in, and the property is entirely non-smoking.
More of the day than most coastal hotels include. Registered guests get Adventure Coach experiences at no extra charge: daily hikes, weekly yoga and meditation, and seasonal outings for tide pools, King Tides, whale watching and the solstice, plus self-guided fat tire biking, new moon stargazing, beach cleanups and PC Pathways. Rooms come stocked with Nocs binoculars, a Malo'o backpack cooler and surf poncho, Frette robes, slippers, books and bath salts. The Adventure Center lends beach chairs, wagons, trekking poles, guidebooks and bikes, and the lobby pours infused water by day and a decaf nightcap in the evening.
It is built for one. The Sunset Bonfire on the Beach is set up for you by an Adventure Coach with chairs, s’mores makings for two and a bottle of Oregon pinot noir, and the Pendleton motor robe you wrap up in is yours to keep. The Coastal Spa Escape runs two nights with the signature Marine Moisture Drench treatment, coastal bites and mocktails, a robe to take home and a late checkout. Dinner is at Meridian, the ocean-view restaurant, and the room waiting afterward has a gas fireplace and a balcony over the Pacific.

They look at Pacific City’s Haystack Rock, a separate sea stack from the better-known one at Cannon Beach. Headlands Coastal Lodge & Spa is an oceanfront resort in Pacific City, on Oregon’s North Coast beside Cape Kiwanda. It opened in December 2018, was founded by native Oregonians Jeff Schons and Mary Jones, and has been managed by Noble House Hotels & Resorts since March 2024.
